Well, time has put everything in its place – created within only 44 days in Florence, the performance has gained a universal popularity and keeps its leadership among all Russian operas in the global repertoire.
“The Queen of Spades” was highly valued as Tchaikovsky’s best work by a worldwide famous conductor, People’s Artist of the USSR Vladimir Fedoseev. He will take the lead of the musical process of recreating the performance in “Helikon-Opera”.
Unique interpretation, modern stage language, love of the music of Tchaikovsky – all of that became the hallmarks of Helikon’s “The Queen of Spades” and will be preserved in the new version. The ballet with singing
Texts – Bertolt Brecht

Russian texts – Svyatoslav Gorodetsky
Music supervisor and conductor – Valery Kirianov
Designer – Rostislav Protasov
Light designer – Denis Enyukov
Choreographer – Edwald Smirnov

Every opera is no saint… But if the seven deadly sins are combined in a collaborative creation of the composer Kurt Weill and the dramatist and poet Bertolt Brecht, an extraordinary result is to be expected. And that is exactly what happened. It is difficult to determine the genre of their work at once. Is it an opera in which they dance or a ballet in which they sing? Retelling the plot makes no sense: the performance is definitely worth seeing.
